REMEDIATION AND ENRICHMENT

MULTI-TIERED SYSTEM OF SUPPORT (MTSS)

Tiered Instruction Continuum Overview: The MTSS continuum of programs and services includes universal programming for all students as well as tiers of intervention and enrichment to support populations of students based on curricula and individual student needs.   The graphic and chart below provide an overview of the Madison Public Schools MTSS framework.

Universal Programming

Universal Programming

The universal programming of MPS aligns with NJSLS and represents the curriculum for the district. Universal programming is available to all students.

Intervention Tiers: The tiers of intervention represent the continuum of how the district addresses curricula needs and students struggling to make progress.

Enrichment Tiers : The tiers of enrichment represent the continuum of how the district enriches Madison students beyond the NJSLS.

Tier 1: Interventions to the universal curriculum based on data collection. Includes targeted instruction to address curricula needs as well as flexible student grouping, differentiation of skills, and learning modality differentiation.

Tier 1: Enrichment for all through programming in STEAM, assemblies and school-wide activities, and classroom differentiation.

Tier 2: Intervention for targeted groups of students that have not demonstrated sufficient progress with the universal curricula and classroom differentiation.  Instruction is delivered in a small-group setting.

Tier 2: Enrichment for targeted groups of students through small-group instruction to explore deeper the curricula content.

Tier 3: Interventions for targeted students without sufficient progress within Tier 2 intervention.  Instruction is provided at a higher intensity than Tier 2 and may be small group or individualized.

Tier 3: Enrichment for select students with exceptional abilities through small group instruction.

Gifted and Talented Services

All Gifted and Talented Services are provided as Tier 3 Enrichment programs and are outlined in the Gifted and Talented Service Guidebook.
